FORGOTTEN FELINES OF SONOMA COUNTY FOSTER CONTRACT TERMS

General Expectations

I understand that foster cats/kittens are the property of Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County until the adoption is finalized.

I agree to relinquish cat/kittens when directed to do so by FFSC.

I agree to follow written and verbal instructions given by FFSC Foster/Adoption Staff regarding care for foster cats/kittens including feeding, handling, medicating, and medical procedures.

I agree to communicate regularly with the Foster/Adoption Team the condition of my foster cat/kittens and any concerns I have regarding care, behavior, and health.

I agree to contact FFSC immediately regarding illness, injury, death or escape of my foster cat/kittens.

I agree to make every effort to respond to any phone call, text, or email sent to me by a Foster/Adoption Team member within 24 hours.

Cat Care Responsibilities

I agree to provide safe, clean warm housing for foster cat/kittens, including but not limited to bedding, food, water, litter box and toys.

I agree to quarantine foster cats/kittens in a room separate from my own pets for at least 10 days to protect my pets and foster cats/kittens from the spread of illness. FFSC is not responsible for illness of personal cats.

I agree to use a cage for cat/kitten as instructed by FFSC Foster/Adoption Staff.

I agree that my foster cats/kittens will be kept indoors at all times.

I agree to always transport my cats/kittens in a secure, FFSC approved carrier.

I agree to feed ONLY the food given to me or approved by Foster Program Staff.

I agree that I will not bring in cats/kittens from any other sources (shelter, rescue group, on my own or from friends) during the time that I am fostering for FFSC.

I agree to maintain foster cat/kittens in my care at all times. I will not assign fostering to anyone (including “pet sitting” or “sub-fostering”) without prior approval by FFSC Foster/Adoption Program Staff.

I agree to bring cat/kittens to Tuesday Foster Health Clinic for check-ups, vaccinations and medical attention. All medical care will be provided by FFSC.

I agree to give my foster cats/kittens ONLY medications prescribed by FFSC and administer medications as directed for the entire duration of time indicated.

I agree to bring cat/kittens to FFSC Spay/Neuter Clinics as scheduled by the Foster/Adoption Team and to pick up cat/kittens after surgery for recovery.

I agree to provide adequate care and socialization for my foster cat/kittens.

Adoption Responsibilities

I understand that when my foster cat/kitten is ready for adoption, I am expected to assist the adoption process as directed by the Foster/Adoption Team.

When requested, I will provide FFSC with electronic photos and a written bio of the cat/kittens within24-48 hours so that he/she may be publicized for adoption.

I agree to contact any potential adopter that is referred to me within 24 hours and make arrangements for the potential adopters to meet the cat/kittens either in my home or at the FFSC facility.

I understand that no cat/kitten is to be handed over to an adopter (or be kept as my own pet) until I have been notified by the Adoption Coordinator that the official adoption paperwork is complete and the adoption fees have been paid.

I am aware that screening is done on all potential adopters, and they must fill out an online application located on the Forgotten Felines’ website and meet certain criteria before adopting.

Foster parents may refer potential adopters to the FFSC Foster/Adoption Team. However, foster cats/kittens cannot be promised to family and friends.

I understand that if I wish to adopt a foster cat/kitten, I will notify the Adoption Coordinator as soon as possible and pay any necessary adoption fees.

I understand that I may NOT be approved as an appropriate adopter for all foster cats/kittens I wish to adopt.

I understand FFSC will make the final decision about home placements for all foster cats/kittens.

I understand:

That cats can be unpredictable and may bite, scratch or otherwise injure people or property.

By fostering cat/kittens, I am assuming full responsibility for the animal including health, temperament, behavior and care. I will indemnify, hold harmless, release and defend Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County from and against any and all actions, claims, damages, disabilities or expenses that may be asserted by any person or entity, arising out of or in connection with the health, temperament, behavior or care of the animals I have fostered including but not limited to full attorney and witness fees related to any action taken.

I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand the importance of the above terms and conditions.

If I do not comply with this contract, I understand that it may lead to a termination of my participation in the Foster Program and all foster cats/kittens will be relinquished to FFSC.
