At Forgotten Felines, volunteers are an integral part of our organization. In fact, without them, we could not provide the cats and the community with the level of service and care that people have come to expect from us. There are many ways to participate in our organization and we're sure that we can find one to fit your purr-sonality and schedule.

Volunteer positions are available working with cats that are being prepared for adoption or are ready for adoption.

Our Adoption Program

We pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of care for our cats and kittens while they are up for adoption. This includes every aspect of "sheltering" from daily cleaning and health care/maintenance to grooming and socialization. We also take pride in the thorough and care-full manner in which we pair our adoptees with potential adopters. In order to maintain these standards, our Adoption Program Coordinator works with the following volunteers

Foster Program

Our Foster Program is unique because we work with both tame and feral kittens and cats. Therefore, our program has four distinctly different ways you can provide foster care: tame kittens, feral kittens, tame adults, or feral adults. Although the fostering of feral cats/kittens requires a slightly longer and more intense commitment, it is extremely rewarding. The Foster Program Coordinator is supported by the following volunteer position.

Foster Parent - Provide a safe, secure environment and lots of socialization (TLC) for cats and kittens waiting to enter our Adoption Program.

Job Qualifications: Volunteers must have had some previous experience with cats and/or kittens, be reliable, conscientious, and observant. Volunteers must also be able to:

  1. Follow directions and work within the guidelines of the Foster Program.
  2. Work under the direction of the Foster Program Coordinator.

We ask that all volunteers consider no less than a six-month commitment to Forgotten Felines. Parents should expect to foster a cat or kitten(s) for a period of time ranging from a few weeks to a few months depending on age, temperament, health and the availability of space in the Adoption Program. Foster Parents should also expect to spend a minimum of two hours/day in caring for kittens and one hour/day for an adult foster cat. These time commitments are greater when caring for/raising a feral cat or kittens.

One-on-one training is provided for this position.

FFSC will provide all equipment and supplies needed for fostering and is responsible for providing all necessary medical care/treatment.

Additional information about these positions will be provided during volunteer orientation
