FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 14, 2007 6:17pm Update
Hi Everyone: Sorry you haven't heard from us for a while. For the past month we have been so focused on keeping up with "Adam",
that the rest of our work has slipped terribly. We're working double duty to catch up with our everyday responsibilities that have fallen by the wayside.
Nevertheless, Adam continues to thrive. He spent the day with us here at our offices last Wednesday while his Foster Mom, Tina,
worked for us on her day off. We hold spay/neuter clinics for feral cats three times a month and Tina is one of our Vet Techs.
I got some great pictures of him and it was nice for our clinic volunteers to be able to meet him in person. He is getting so cute
now that his fur is growing out. He was very comfortable playing in his kennel, watching the inner workings of our clinic and visiting
with his new friends. Everyone enjoyed having him visit for the day. We anticipate that he'll only have one more surgery and then it's adoption time!
Sampson, Adam's brother has fully recovered from his "cold" and is still being treated for his ringworm. Our Adoption Program Coordinator,
Colette, is fostering him at her home and she promises to get us updated pictures as soon as he sits still long enough for her to get a good shot!
He is having a grand time at his foster home and just like Adam, is completely tame to people now. Positively loves being held and having his tummy
scratched.
Oh, and I have a great "Because of Adam" story: Shortly after Adam's story hit the newspapers we were contacted by a couple from Redding,
California who were interested in giving Adam a good home. When asked why they wanted to adopt, they explained that they currently have a one
year old blind from birth cat and were looking for a second special needs kitten to adopt. Once we explained that Adam most likely already had a
home, we inquired further as to what they were looking for and why. Margarita, our Foster Program Coordinator told the couple that we didn't have
any kittens that would fill their needs, but two days prior had heard about a visually impaired kitten at one of our local shelters. Long story short,
we took the darling little Siamese cross girl, "Kiddo", and her sister into our Adoption Program, sent the couple a picture of her and they immediately
responded with "When can we come get her?" Kiddo (photo opens in new window) is getting spayed tomorrow and going to her new home with orange tabby brother,
Cisco (photo opens in new window), on Friday.
So, because of Adam, another special needs kitten gets a home.
Adam sends his love and we send our continued appreciation for your interest! Watch for new pics from last Wednesday on the web site. He is
adorable in his little blue sweater!
Most sincerely,
Jennifer
