Volunteer OpportunitiesAt Forgotten Felines, volunteers are an integral part of our organization. In fact, without them, we could not provide the cats and the community with the level of service and care that people have come to expect from us. There are many ways to participate in our organization and we're sure that we can find one to fit your purr-sonality and schedule.The following information will provide you with an introduction to our programs and a description of the volunteer positions that each is supported by. Adoption ProgramWe pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of care for our cats and kittens while they are up for adoption. This includes every aspect of "sheltering" from daily cleaning and health care/maintenance to grooming and socialization. We also take pride in the thorough and care-full manner in which we pair our adoptees with potential adopters. In order to maintain these standards, our Adoption Program Coordinator works with the following volunteers:Colony Caretaking ProgramForgotten Felines is responsible for the care and maintenance of a number of cat colonies throughout Sonoma County. That responsibility involves the daily feeding and oversight of each one of these colonies. This program is directed by our Colony Caretaker Coordinator and is supported by the following volunteer position:Foster ProgramOur Foster Program is unique because we work with both tame and feral kittens and cats. Therefore, our program has four distinctly different ways you can provide foster care: tame kittens, feral kittens, tame adults, or feral adults. Although the fostering of feral cats/kittens requires a slightly longer and more intense commitment, it is extremely rewarding. The Foster Program Coordinator is supported by the following volunteer position:Thrift and Gift ShopForgotten Felines' programs are funded by the income generated at Pick of the Litter, our thrift and gift shop in Santa Rosa. Our Store Manager relies upon a dedicated "staff" of volunteers to keep the shop stocked and the doors open. Volunteer positions at our thrift and gift shop are grouped into the following three categories:Trapping ProgramOur Trapping Program operates as both a service and as a resource for information/referrals. This program is the front line in our effort to curb feral cat breeding and involves intense, direct contact with cats and kittens. Program participants work directly with the public, with our colony caretakers, local veterinarians and their staff. The Trapping Program Coordinator is supported by the following positions:Other OpportunitiesBesides our core program volunteers, there are many other ways to help Forgotten Felines.
